Vyas Gaddi

Category Religious

Ved Vyas Ashram, known as Vyas Gaddi, is situated near the Manu- Shatrupa temple. The site of Ved Vyas or Vyas Gaddi is one of the most important religious sites in Naimisharanya. In this Vedvyas Ashram, Maharishi Vedvyas composed the 4 Vedas, 6 Shastras, 18 Puranas, Gita, Mahabharata, and Shri Satyanarayan Vrat Katha. He preached the Srimad Bhagavad Gita and the Purana to his disciples Jaimini, Sampayana, Sukadeva, Soota, Angira, and Pail.
Vyas Gaddi is located at a distance of about 1 km from Chakratirth towards the South. Vyas Gaddi temple lies under a huge banyan tree that has existed since immemorial. By circumambulating it and tying Kalava to it, all wishes are fulfilled. It is believed that one who does yoga under this old banyan tree gets rid of even incurable diseases.
This ancient tree is said to be more than 5000 years old; hence, it traces its history to the time of Mahabharata. Since Ved Vyas used to sit under this tree, it is known as Vyas Gaddi, where Gaddi refers to ‘Seat’. At this popular religious site in Naimisharanya, a small shrine is dedicated to Ved Vyas. The temple’s triangular piles of clothes represent the temple’s presiding deity. An interesting feature of this Hindu sacred site in Uttar Pradesh is the placards that provide information about the scriptures written here. Many other renowned pilgrimage sites of Naimisharanya surround Vyas Gaddi
The Vyas temple is built on a high mound, which is reached by climbing 10-12 steps. A three-foot-tall statue of Lord Ved Vyas is enshrined in the temple built under the banyan tree. This is where Lord Ved Vyas recited the glory of Shrimad Bhagwat Katha. At the same time, the importance of Bhagwat Parayan increased in the whole world
