Naimisharanya is dotted with several sacred pilgrimage sites, and Hanuman Garhi is one of them. Devoted to Lord Hanuman, it is an ancient holy site in Naimisharanya with rich mythological significance. The theme of this ternple is a mythical event depicting Lord Hanuman’s emergence from Patal Lok (underworld). It is also known as Bade Hanuman because Lord Hanuman’s giant statue is 12 feet tall. One of the main attractions of this renowned Hindu temple is the stone idol of Lord Hanuman, carrying Lord Rama and Lakshman on his shoulder. Besides its religious significance, the temple attracts many tourists because of its peaceful aura.
Hanuman Garhi is often referred to as Dakshineshwar Temple as the temple’s presiding deity faces the dakshin (south) direction. It is situated on a high mount of about 500 metres from Chakratirtha. This temple is considered from the Ramayana period, and Hanuman Garhi Temple is also one of the most famous temples of Naimisharanya.
